UPGRADE S20
The lightest model in the range. At 20 cm deep, it remains within the limits even under the stricter regulations of some low-cost airlines.
Fitting a standard cabin trolley into the overhead locker is not a given with Eurowings. Hand luggage allowances with Eurowings are strictly linked to the fare you have booked.
While a small bag measuring 40 × 30 × 25 cm can always be carried free of charge, the standard carry-on suitcase measuring 55 × 40 × 23 cm and weighing up to 8 kg is not automatically included in the cheapest fare. If you are aware of these regulations, you can plan your journey in advance and avoid costly additional charges at the gate.
Eurowings makes a clear distinction between two categories of hand luggage and links the allowance to the respective fare class.
| Fare | Small bag 40 × 30 × 25 cm |
Large carry-on baggage 55 × 40 × 23 cm, max. 8 kg |
|---|---|---|
| BASIC | including | Available as an optional extra (from €21) |
| SMART | including | 1 × included |
| BIZclass | including | 2 × included |
The specifications and prices quoted are correct at the time of our research. Airlines occasionally change their baggage regulations and charges – please check the latest information from Eurowings before booking.
Eurowings’ BASIC fare is stripped down to the essentials. This booking class includes only one small piece of hand luggage measuring 40 × 30 × 25 cm. You can stow this bag under the seat in front of you.
A cabin bag for the overhead locker is not included in the base fare. Anyone arriving at the boarding gate with an unregistered bag measuring 55 × 40 × 23 cm will not be allowed to take it on board. Staff will arrange for it to be loaded into the hold on the spot.
Checking your booking details before travelling will clarify any uncertainties. By adding a larger piece of hand luggage in good time if required, you can avoid unnecessary hassle at the airport and ensure a smooth boarding process.
Eight kilograms may seem sufficient at first for a trip lasting several days. The problem, however, lies in the suitcase’s own weight: as a standard hard-shell suitcase without any special features already weighs three to four kilograms, there is little capacity left for clothes and equipment.
The range UPGRADE from TITAN meets this weight limit with a low weight combined with high stability. Made from durable polycarbonate, there are three carry-on-compatible variants to choose from:
The lightest model in the range. At 20 cm deep, it remains within the limits even under the stricter regulations of some low-cost airlines.
Fully utilises the 23 cm depth permitted by Eurowings, thereby offering the largest packing volume within the specified limits.
With an integrated front pocket for direct access to your laptop and travel documents. A few grams of packing space traded for time saved at security.
This design has also been recognised in independent testing: in the 6/2026 issue of Stiftung Warentest, the UPGRADE S20 was compared against 17 other cabin suitcases and came out on top with a mark of 1.8 (‘Good’). Anyone wishing to comfortably stay within the 8 kg limit will find the low weight a clear advantage.
The range OVERSEAS is aimed at frequent flyers who place high demands on protection and durability. TITAN offers the range in two versions suitable for carry-on luggage: The S20 model, measuring 55 × 40 × 20 cm, is suitable for almost all international flights, whilst the S23 variant, measuring 55 × 40 × 23 cm, makes full use of the permitted depth on Eurowings flights.
Instead of a traditional zip fastening, TITAN has opted for a torsion-resistant frame construction for this range. The shells, made from durable polycarbonate, interlock seamlessly when closed, giving the suitcase a high degree of rigidity.
At the heart of the handling system is the integrated TSA Mono-Lock. A single movement is all it takes to lock the lock or open it at the airport security check. This robustness pays off when a fully booked cabin requires your luggage to be loaded into the hold at short notice – the sturdy frame reliably protects your luggage.
In addition to the large cabin bag, Eurowings permits one small item of luggage measuring 40 × 30 × 25 cm on all fares. This additional bag offers an often underestimated advantage – it is the most effective way of ensuring you stay within the strict 8-kilogramme limit for your suitcase.
For this personal item, the airline does not specify a fixed weight limit. The only requirement is that it fits entirely under the seat in front of you – a requirement that TITAN Beautycase meets. If you specifically pack heavy items such as cameras, power adaptors or toiletries into this case, it will significantly lighten the load on your Trolley. This way, you can reserve the space in your main suitcase for your clothes and avoid any inconvenience during security checks at the gate.
Eurowings checks dimensions and weight carefully before boarding. If the suitcase does not fit entirely within the template at the gate or exceeds the weight limit of 8 kilograms, it may not be taken into the cabin.
In this case, the item of luggage will be collected directly at the gate and loaded into the hold for a fee. The additional charges at the airport are significantly higher than the rates for advance booking. Furthermore, the airline requires cashless payment by credit card at the gate. Checking the overall dimensions of your suitcase – always including wheels and handles – before setting off will ensure a stress-free boarding process.
Eurowings’ hand luggage regulations require, above all, a clear understanding of the terms of the fare booked and careful consideration of what to pack. The permitted dimensions of 55 × 40 × 23 cm offer plenty of space, but the 8-kilogramme weight limit means you’ll need to choose your bag carefully.
With the ‘ UPGRADE ’ and ‘ OVERSEAS ’ ranges, TITAN offers two designs that make the most of the Airlines’ specifications. Those wishing to minimise the suitcase’s own weight will benefit from maximum net load capacity with the ‘ TITAN ’ UPGRADE – as confirmed by its top rating in the Stiftung Warentest test. Those who also prioritise the torsion-resistant security of a frame construction with TSA Mono-Lock should choose the TITAN OVERSEAS .
Both collections impress with their durability, well-thought-out design details and a perfect fit for Eurowings hand luggage. Find the right range for your travel habits amongst all the TITAN suitcases.
The small piece of hand luggage must not exceed 40 × 30 × 25 cm. The maximum dimensions for the large piece of hand luggage are 55 × 40 × 23 cm – always including wheels and handles.
This depends on the fare you have booked. The BASIC fare only includes the small bag that fits under the seat in front of you. The SMART fare also includes one large piece of hand luggage, whilst in BIZclass, two large pieces of hand luggage are permitted in the cabin.
When booking in advance via the airline’s website or app, charges start at 21 euros per flight segment. If you book later at the airport counter or directly at the gate, significantly higher fixed charges apply. You can find the current prices on the Eurowings website.
Eurowings does not specify a fixed weight limit for small items of hand luggage. The only requirement is that the bag must fit entirely under the seat in front of you.
Eurowings, as the direct-flight subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, operates European short- and medium-haul routes. Eurowings Discover now operates under the brand Discover Airlines as an independent long-haul holiday airline. Different baggage regulations apply at Discover Airlines, which are based on Lufthansa’s standards.
Trolley If your trolley exceeds the 8 kg limit or the permitted dimensions, it will be taken from you at the gate and loaded into the hold. An additional charge will apply for this, which must be paid by card at the gate without exception.
